How Often & What to Expect
Twice a year for most patients.
Two cleanings a year is standard for patients in generally good oral health. If you have a history of gum disease or are at higher risk, we may suggest every three to four months. We’ll always explain why we’re recommending what we recommend.

Things patients ask about cleanings.
Most cleanings are comfortable. You may feel some pressure and sensitivity, especially if it’s been a while or your gums are inflamed. Tell your hygienist if anything is uncomfortable — we can adjust.
Not automatically. For most patients we take a full set every 1–2 years and check-in bitewings annually. We only recommend them when they’re clinically useful — not as a routine add-on.
Yes — cleanings and exams are covered at 100% by most PPO plans, typically two visits per year. We confirm your benefits before your appointment so there are no surprises.
Absolutely. Many dental problems — including gum disease and early cavities — develop silently until they’re more advanced. Regular cleanings catch issues when they’re smallest and least expensive to treat.
